Be A Disciple

A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is perfectly trained will be like his teacher. (Luke 6:40)

The goal of discipleship is to become like our teacher. Yeshua (Jesus) is our teacher, and we are His disciples. When we are making disciples, remember that we are making disciples of Yeshua, not disciples of ourselves.

“But you are not to let yourselves be called `Rabbi’; because you have one Rabbi, and you are all each other’s brothers. And do not call anyone on earth `Father.’ because you have one Father, and he is in heaven. Nor are you to let yourselves be called `leaders,’ because you have one Leader, and he is the Messiah! (Matthew 23:8-10)

Many people want to be leaders and be treated as someone important. They want authority, and think that a title will give them what they want. A true disciple does not care about titles or positions, he only wants to follow the Messiah, the one true Leader.

I say this because one of you says, “I follow Paul”; another says, “I follow Apollos”; another, “I follow Kefa”; while still another says, “I follow the Messiah!” Has the Messiah been split in pieces? Was it Paul who was put to death on a stake for you? Were you immersed into the name of Paul? (1 Corinthians 1:12-13)

Did you know that there are over 38,000 Christian Denominations in the world today?  We have been divided thousands of times over stupid arguments. If we would all stop arguing, and just start following the Messiah, then we would all get to the same place.  Forget your Denominationalism, and simply follow Yeshua.

For when one says, “I follow Paul” and another, “I follow Apollos,” aren’t you being merely human? After all, what is Apollos? What is Paul? Only servants through whom you came to trust. Indeed, it was the Lord who brought you to trust through one of us or through another. I planted the seed, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow. So neither the planter nor the waterer is anything, only God who makes things grow. (1 Corinthians 3:4-7)

Remember that being a disciple is not about following a preacher or a denomination, it is about following the Messiah, Yeshua. He is our LORD, He is our Master, He is our King!
