False Teachers

Popular Christian Theology teaches that “we no longer need to obey the commandments”, but is that really what the Bible says?

Yeshua said:

  • “I did not come to destroy the Torah” (Matt. 5:17)
  • “Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:19)
  • “if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments” (Matt. 19:17)

Paul said:

  • “Do we abolish the Torah by this faith? Heaven forbid! On the contrary, we establish the Torah.” (Rom. 3:31)
  • “keeping the commandments of God is what matters” (1Cor. 7:19)

John said:

  • “we know Him, if we keep His commandments” (1Jn. 2:3-4)
  • “whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments” (1Jn. 3:22)
  • “he who keeps His commandments abides in Him” (1Jn. 3:24)
  • “love God and keep His commandments” (1Jn. 5:2-3)
  • “His commandments are not burdensome” (1Jn. 5:3)
  • “This is love, that we walk according to His commandments” (2Jn. 1:6)

James said:

  • “the perfect Torah of liberty” (James 1:25)
  • “the royal Torah according to the Scripture” (James 2:8)
  • “speak and do as those who will be judged by the Torah” (James 2:12)

Revelation says:

  • “keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Yeshua” (Rev. 12:17)
  • “those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Yeshua” (Rev. 14:12)
  • “those who do His commandments… have the right to the tree of life” (Rev. 22:14)

BEWARE OF FALSE TEACHERS:

  • “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing” (Matt. 7:15)
  • “Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many… Lawlessness will abound” (Matt. 24:11-12)
  • “false prophets will rise… to deceive, if possible, even the elect” (Matt. 24:24)
  • “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.” (2Tim. 4:3-4)
  • “there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies… And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed… While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption… it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them.” (2Peter 2:1-21)

False teachers say:

  • “This man never stops speaking against this holy place and against the Torah; for we have heard him say that Yeshua of Nazareth… will change the customs Moses handed down to us.” (Acts 6:13-14)
  •  ”This man is trying to persuade people to worship God in ways that violate the Torah.” (Acts 18:13)

In Conclusion:

The false teachers are those who teach that the Torah is done away with and that we no longer need to keep the commandments of God. This is an extremely popular concept among Christian preachers, teachers, authors, and theologians, however, the Bible tells us not to go along with the crowd, but to enter by the narrow gate.

“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. (Matthew 7:13-15)

You see, false teachers take the masses down the wide road to destruction, opposing God and His commandments. Follow Yeshua, obey the commandments, and teach others to do the same. (Matthew 5:19)

I find this material useful.please explain
Gal3: 13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

What is the “curse of the law”? We see that when God gave the commandments, he said,

“Behold, I set before you today a blessing and a curse: the blessing, if you obey the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you today; and the curse, if you do not obey the commandments of the Lord your God, but turn aside from the way which I command you today, to go after other gods which you have not known.” (Deuteronomy 11:26-28)

According to Galatians 3:13, He has “redeemed us from the curse of the law”. To redeem something is to buy it back, or to regain possession of something that was lost.

There is a whole lot of information to cover in relation to what this means, but in summary, He did not do anything to the Law of God… He did something to us, to bring us back to God. He redeemed us from the curse, our banishment that was the result of our sin (breaking God’s Law).

    Hope that helps a bit.

Most people who quote this verse put the emphasis on the word ‘law’ implying as usual that the law is a cursed thing. The emphasis should be placed on the ‘curse’ found in the law for those who disobey the Torah.

Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word out of the mouth of Yah!!!

In Galatians, the curse of the law that was done away with is the law of sin and death, not the law in reference to Torah. If read in context, that can be seen clearly. Romans 8:2 says, “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.”

It is like getting a ticket for speeding. The ticket (law of sin and death) is the result/consequences of breaking the Law of God, Torah, literally instruction. Jesus removes the ticket, no punishment or judgment, but the law of the land still stands and is not done away with just the penalty of death for your sins. That is why Paul further clarifies, “What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? May it never be! Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness?” Romans 6:15-16 Righteousness is defined as Torah observance. And “What shall we say then? Is the Law sin? May it never be! On the contrary, I would not have come to know sin except through the Law.” Romans 7:7. I hope this brings clarity.

The word which has been translated as law is Torah and means instruction. It is the picture of “hitting the mark” as one does with an arrow and a bullseye. Interestingly enough, the word which has been translated as sin is the picture of “missing the mark” or not hitting the bullseye with your arrow. If we go to the original Hebrew texts, it opens up wonders of understanding.
